We have a vacancy for a career professional in the position of Software Engineer. We would like to talk to candidates with a Hons BSc or Hons BComm qualification, majoring in Computer Science, with a minimum of two years appropriate experience. A university graduate with longer relevant experience may also qualify.

Expertise should include at least all of the following:

•  Solid C programming on a Linux platform.

•  Low-level understanding of Linux systems.

•  TCP/IP networking and data communication protocols.

•  Web development in HTML & JavaScript.

Experience in any of the following would be beneficial:

•  Development of software for embedded devices.

•  ARM9 microprocessors.

•  GSM/GPRS technology.

•  Development of Linux kernel device-drivers.

•  Java (J2SE)

•  Software version control (CVS)

•  PHP & MySQL.

The incumbent's duties will consist of:

•  Creation of software for new and existing products.

•  Maintenance and improvement of existing software.

•  Troubleshooting and debugging

•  Product testing

•  Quality responsibilities in terms of company QMS programme.

•  Writing of technical documentation.
